News Update

***Happy New Year to you all***

Already we are into 2008, Dark mornings, dark nights, muddy rugs, horses with manes and tails looking like mud magnets, panda eyes caked in mud.. Trudging through muddy fields and dodging horses all waiting to be brought in. But isn't it great.. arriving on the yard to whinneys and neighs with eager eyes looking for you. I still get butterflies in my stomach knowing I am gonna see my boys. When it's a frosty cold night I imagine my boys all snug and warm in their cosy rugs with a lovely meal and a fresh Haynet with cool clear water.
How many of you arrived at the yard come News Years Day with the dreaded hangover? Not me.. I stayed sober and woke fresh the next day. Mind I have had my days when focusing was the best I could do and dragged my dad out of bed to take me to the yard. I remember one time in particular arriving at the yard and grabbing my mate for support (I was well hung over) and asked her to see to Kyle.. of which she did ..what a mate.. I crawled back to bed and stayed there all day. So it was great to wake up this year with a clear head. So anyone do anything funny, silly, embarrassing..? Is it printable LOL.

Horse of The Year Show

This was awesome and though this is about the 3 rd time I have been I still find it fascinating. I set off to Birmingham with Dawn and Catherine Moreton and on entering the building I couldn't help but think. last month I was here for the Savvy Conference.. What a difference, the whole place was transformed with shops galore, a few horses in stables, loads of info and food and as Catherine discovered lots of pink things. Catherine loves Pink.. I intended to buy .. Nothing ..and came away with a huge tub of Corteflex at £175 which actually saved me £65 in the long term. Dawn and Catherine had their spending spree and then we realised the show was starting. We found our seats to find a jumping class had already started and pretty soon we were well transfixed and caught up in the excitement. Before long I got the taste for some ice-cream so off I went to get us all some delicious cones. MMMmm Lovely.

The whole show was brilliant but what was a pity was the lack of top showjumpers such as the Whitakers etc. News had it they were abroad competing for big money rather than the couple of thousand here at HOYS. The class didn't have as many entries or so it seemed and the jump off wasn't as spectacular as in previous years but we did see some great jumping. But it was still a good night out and I enjoyed it.

Parelli Social Meeting
23 rd October

This was held at Hoppy 's house, that's Dawn Moreton for those who are not familiar and 16 people attended which was great. I've mislaid my notes and forgot what was discussed but I do know we chatted so long their was no DVD shown this time. I must find those notes lol.

Your Horse Live
10 th November

This is another event that I have attended each year and usually I go with Brian who I have dragged out of the house. Only problem is I never get to watch a full demo as I feel Brian doesn't enjoy them so I always watch a little and leave. This time though was totally different. This time I went along with Lucy and Jessica and we watched a few demo's all of the way through. Carl Hester was great and so was the Jousting but sorry to say I found Dave Stewart and Charlotte Dennis terrible. So much so Lucy and I decided to get up and leave the watching to others.

As usual the shopping area was huge and I ended up buying some cordless clippers. Ho Hum !!

UK Parelli Office Open Day
6 th December

Now I only found out about the open day a few days before hand and I was so pleased to go. I went along with Lucy and what a great time we had. On arrival we were greeted by friendly faces and offered drinks, mince pies and cakes. The UK Book of Thanks was there for all to see and then we were given a guided tour of the office. We were shown were calls are taken and the range of equipment for sale. You can buy past DVD's and even booklets for your level packs. So if one is damaged just get ont eh phone and order a replacement.

We then went upstairs where there was a large room. One part was for displaying T-Shirts and another was set out with chairs for talks. Further back was a huge table with goodies on it. We were given T-Shirts of the 2007 Conference, pens, leaflets and orange wrist bands. Then we were taken to where Sue and Neil have their office and there we were given a talk by Sue Shoemark about the future of Parelli and forthcoming DVD's. Watch out for a new formatted DVD due this month.

After the talk we had our chance to ask questions to which I had loads. If you didn't manage to make it then you missed a great day.

Parelli Social Meeting
11th December

Hoppy , what a gem.. once again Hoppy opened her doors for the Social Meeting which was really appreciated as we had a great turn out. 20 people attended the meeting with a few new members to the group and we also had the pleasure of special guest Mark Johnson a Barefoot Trimmer from Leicestershire. The meeting started off with news on upcoming events and then we grabbed something to eat. Everyone brought something for the buffet which meant we had a great feast and thanks to Hoppy and her hubby Peter for the Chilli Con Carne. Delicious.

I won't go into the talk by Mark Johnson pictured above on the right, as it was 2 hours long and very informative. Instead see the attachment for a read. The notes will also be on the website in due time.

What I can say is that there were many questions asked and answered and loads of laughter and soon it was getting late and time to cut the meeting and head off home. Hoppy even joked to Mark that she could make up a spare bed for the talk to continue as there was just so much to hear and we had only touched the surface.

Xmas Meal
18th December

Where do we go? A few suggestions were received and then Ulrike recommended "The Worlds End" in Ecton. Then I saw a place that was run by the same company but was slightly cheaper and the place looked nice. Then I saw another place advertised in the free paper and it looked good, was a lot cheaper and the menu looked okay. So after many many emails back and forth we finally decided on "The Worlds End" Cor! Just like a typical woman. notorious for going back to the first place they visited..lol

So eight of us managed to make it to the meal,

Julia Bye Dawn Amour Julie Lenton

Sam Chadband Carole Ryan Lucy Heaver

Myself and Brian Hallam

Well we entered the restaurant and wow! It was lovely, well laid out, very clean and the staff were brilliant. But what is the food like?

First class and definitely a perfect recommendation.even if Ulrike couldn't make it.. Lol

The entire meal was delicious, and this time I made no mistakes, though Dawn Amour was sure she did not order two fish dishes, one was the starter and the other the main course but alas Dawn you did. did you get your email that you sent me ordering your meal. Mind the fish did look superb and Dawn was happy as the staff were happy to change the main meal to beef.
